i had the same issue... i just hosted my searxng at localhost:8888 to get around this... you could also make a proxy to proxy requests to localhost:8888 to your searxng instance |

Sounds more like a hack than a solution though. The url to connect to should probably be editable. A proxy that connects to a proxy to be able to connect to a search engine you host on your server... |
