1. What happened in 2026: MCP and customizable AI (Skills, Artifacts, Custom GPTs), agents that act on their own (Claude Code, Cowork, Computer Use, OpenClaw), automated research (Karpathy, Sakana, HKU, refine.ink), and Anthropic's industry expansion.
2. What's happening now: frontier models behind closed doors (Mythos and Project Glasswing), AI proving math (Sawhney, Liam Price, the Erdős wave), and AI's broader societal footprint (defense, community pushback, energy demand).
3. What does the future look like: the centralization question (Altman) and post-LLM architectures (world models, Ineffable Intelligence, JEPA).
