Email invalid from HA, but works directly with Curl

I can login from the comfort app, and connect using curl, but when I try to install the integration, I get an invalid V3 email in the logs.
my email is nhw1@stern.nyu.edu ( a subdomain) is that a problem.?

hass-kumo version: 0.4.4
pykumo version: 0.4.4
V2 returns null for your account
V3 curl works manually and returns my info
HA config flow returns emailInvalid
Your email is a subdomain address (@stern.nyu.edu) which may be relevant

I assume pykumo version is a typo, we're at v0.4.2.

I think this report belongs over at hass-kumo not here, but regardless, I can't imagine a subdomain makes a difference. I think it's more likely you have an extra space or non-low-ASCII character in your address (or password).

hass-kumo v0.4.6-beta may help this situation, or at least allow you to add IP addresses manually.
