GIF as profile picture and room picture (Element X)

Hello, is it possible to set GIF picture as profile picture, and be displayed to others once picture is zoomed, instead of it just being 1st frame of gif? I think this worked before actually, but not sure. It could also be set for room, once zoomed in, gif would actually be gif, not static 1st frame.

Considering that this was said that it's resolved here element-hq/synapse#1278 (comment) (but we have yet to see when new version of app is released), I'll close this discussion.
