How to disable auto-updates - Photos-desktop

Title. The desktop app says an update is available, with choices to install now or when I close the app. There is no option to skip, or wait until another time. Furthermore, it has already downloaded and staged the update. The only way I have found to skip an update is to refuse to provide auth when prompted for root/admin creds.

Not everybody wants their machine to download 700MB+ without asking. Not everybody wants an app to manage updates on its own. I would prefer to be able to disable this update check, or at least have the option to choose between, "Skip this version," "Not now", "Install now."

I'm hoping there is a script running that I can comment out, or rename to avoid it running when I don't want it to run.
