How to set eza to read stdin delimited by NUL?

I tried the below but they didn't work. I don't think NUL can be stored in a variable, so is there another way to make this work?

EZA_STDIN_SEPARATOR=$'\0'
EZA_STDIN_SEPARATOR=''
EZA_STDIN_SEPARATOR="$(printf '\0')"
