I had thought perhaps this was a temporary issue, but this behavior persists over time. Have I hit an account quota and must now wait for access to reset at the end of the month? What's going on here and how do I resolve this, please?

never mind, I see somehow I was using the wrong path to the api target. Adding this: /api/rest/v4/search/ puts me back in business.
