To build Open Dental on Linux, you'll need a recent version of Mono (> 1.2.5). To obtain such a version, currently (Sep 28, 2007), you will need to use the SVN version of Mono and build Mono yourself.
For more information on this subject, see http://lists.ximian.com/pipermail/mono-devel-list/2007-March/022784.html .
Building Open Dental requires you to have a recent version of NAnt as well. You can download NAnt at http://nant.sourceforge.net.
Then, building is quite easy: just type
make
and you should be set!
Build Flags
===========
The build of Open Dental supports the following flags:
- LINUX: Some Linux-specific optimizations;
- MONO: Some Mono-specific optimizations;
- DISABLE_MICROSOFT_OFFICE: Do not provide support for Mail Merge using Microsoft Word;
- DISABLE_WINDOWS_BRIDGES: Do not support bridges to Windows-programs using NDDe or VBBridges;
The purpose of these flags are to provide an optimal version of Open Dental for Linux. Removing support for features that are not available on Linux (Windows-specific software), reduces the size of the application.
