Got stuck with TLO and Z height #916

Forgot to mention that if I set the probe to a lengthof 0mm, the touch set the Z-height to zero correctly. |

If you know the length of the tool used to set the reference you could use the difference between that and the length of the 3D probe as the Touch plate parameter and then use the Edge finder, external to probe Z and set the offset. Tool lengths could be calculated if the length of the spindle relative to the home position is known, I do not know if that could be an item to add to the app settings and somehow use in the probing tab... |

Hi,
I hope someone can help me with my problem:
I have a fixed tool length sensor on the workbench. It has a measured height of 34.12 mm.
It's also set to this height in IOsender.
When I perform a home operation, I then use a tool to set the tool reference offset by moving the tool onto the tool length sensor.
When I check the changed tool length on the workbench, everything is fine.
I have a 3D probe with a total length of 47.16 mm, and this probe is also configured with this length in IOsender.
When I use a vise for milling, my Z-axis zero point is naturally higher.
So I position the probe above the workpiece and probe the workpiece.
If I then perform an automatic tool change, the Z-value theoretically ends up back on the workbench instead of on the raised workpiece.
I've already tried setting the probe to 0 mm without success. I've tried both specifying the Z-value and using the difference between the two probes, but I end up with a Z-value that's nowhere near the top of the workpiece.
Tell me, where on earth am I going wrong? The YouTube videos show how to determine a tool length difference, but after that, I can't find anything about zeroing the Z-height with a probe.
I'm probably so completely oblivious that I can't figure it out.
Thanks for helping me out of this mental escaperoom :)
