Emacs keybinding user?

I am an Emacs keybinding user and trying to use Emacs keybindings in Helix.
Anyone else?
If you are, it would be awesome if we could share our remapping tips.

So we can remap whatever we want (hope so). So far, I have been working on my Emacs keybindings.

But I still have no idea how to remap "Ctrl-g."
I tried to remap "Ctrl-g" to "Esc," but it seems there is no way to do that because the "Esc" command does not exist.

Depends on what "Esc" should do. In insert mode, Esc gets you to normal mode, so you can do the following:

[keys.insert]
C-g = ["normal_mode"]

Nope. That's now what I want. "normal_mode" does not help any at command mode. It is just changing mode and does not do escape job any in many situation.

Which is exactly what hitting Esc does in insert mode. If you want it to do something else, you have to specify that in the keybinding. There is no general "do the escape job in any situation" command.

Ha! That's because there's no Command mode available in Insert mode. It may work in Insert mode, but not in the other modes.
Yep, to implement C-g (ESC) in Helix, I need help from outside.

Updated "C-g" to switching "normal_mode" in Insert mode. It can behave like that (only in Insert Mode).

You can use keyd in order to remap ctrl+g to escape anywhere. Also you can set it up for application.

My keyd config:

[ids]
*

[main]
capslock = layer(control)
leftcontrol = layer(control)

[control]
j = enter
i = tab
g = esc

So now C-g will be escape, while C-i will be tab and C-j will be enter. If you want to set it up for special application, read documentation.
