Why follow the traditional key bindings to move across (h,j,k,l) #15670

Traditionally we have k for up, h for left, j for down and l for right. I don't have any problem with the h,j,k,l themselves but rather.. why the left and right direction are so apart from themselves ( h and l). I think, it would be easier to navigate if left and right were together and up, down together (eg. h,j for left right and k,l for up down or something like this) |

The standard layout makes sense because up and down are the two most common directions that you would need to use. If there was a different layout then either the two most accurate fingers would stop being on the most used directions or you would have to deviate from the home row. |
