READ THIS! ESPHome / LibreTiny Compile / ModBus / UART / WiFi problems

Unfortunately, ESPHome and/or LibreTiny have been experiencing various issues over the past year. Use this thread to report buggy versions and share tips on how to fix them.

General advice: If you're having trouble with a current version of ESPHome or LibreTiny, try one of these options:

• install an older version of the ESPHome Builder add-on
• pin LibreTiny to an older version (detailed changes here) in the yaml:

  rtl87xx:
    board: generic-rtl8710bx-4mb-980k
    framework:
      version: 1.10.0         <- instead of "latest" here
  

I don’t have time to fix individual versions and will no longer commit workarounds to the code in this repository.

Please limit this thread to brief tips on which version isn’t working and what to do about it.

Keep it short so others can quickly get an overview.

ESPHome 2025.7.0 - 2025.11.2 suffered from a compile problem ("AsyncTCP xTaskNotifyGive ulTaskNotifyTake errors"). Tracked in #59

ESPHome 2026.5 completely looses WiFi and never comes up again. Fix is described by @ube80 in #79 (comment)
