[BUG] Uninstalled/Reinstalled - Claud can't connect or see HA setup #562
💬 What Went Wrong?I had an issue where Claude was freezing all of a sudden when given prompts that require it to access my HA configuration, so I attempted to uninstall and reinstall everything to start from scratch. Now Claud says HA tools are available in its toolkit, but it cannot actually connect to or see my HA setup without establishing that connection first. Developer settings looks like:

🔍 AnalysisThe user is experiencing a "tools available but not connected" state, which is likely caused by a combination of a bug in the server startup logic and potential network resolution issues on Windows. The server is currently skipping its built-in connection test during startup because the The "freezing" reported by the user is likely due to tool timeouts. When a tool is called, the server attempts to connect to Home Assistant. If the URL is unreachable or DNS resolution (especially for 🛠️ Suggested Steps

So I asked Claude to double check if it has access and it started running a Get System Overview check. That, too was hung, but when I clicked the dropdown arrow it did find my HA instance and says it can control it now. Seems like it's the same error as described here - https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1qsdq58/claude_desktop_new_mcp_ui_bug_tools_freeze_until/ |
I have the same issue that is unresolved. |
Same issue here. Created a new long term token with no change. |
All the reddit and GitHub discussions I see point for it to be a bug in the desktop app. Workaround is to click on the dropdown arrow when it freezes. Maybe open a ticket? |

This morning, I created a new long lasting token and entered it into claude_desktop_config.json file. Still had issues, changed homeassistant.local to the ip address. Then claude actually suggested checking to make sure I was using http instead of https, because ssl wasn't working. Config file did indeed have https configured. Changed to http and now working again. |
I'm experiencing the same bug as well. Hopefully, this gets fixed soon as it seems like a decent tool based on the feedback. |
