Question about migration from 1.10 to 1.11 (OR 1.10 to 1.12?)

We are close to HH1.18 stable (and CP 1.12) and I worry about the appropriate and easiest way to migrate and be sure to get the magic 'old_id' column in 'custom_page' table.

Should we migrate this way:
HH1.17 + CP1.10 stable -> CP1.11 last beta -> HH1.18 -> CP1.12 stable

Or is it possible to migrate directly this way:
HH1.17 + CP1.10 stable -> HH1.18 -> CP1.12stable

Shall we get a CP1.11 stable before HH1.18 stable?

I would recommend: HH1.17 + CP1.10 stable -> HH1.18 -> CP1.12stable

Please, can you confirm that jumping directly from CP1.10stable to CP1.12stable will generate the 'old_id' column?
