Call for reviewers

Hi everyone!

For a while, image-rs has had a great stream of contributions, but unfortunately maintainer bandwidth to accept them has been pretty limited. You may have noticed PR reviews taking a long time, issues not getting a prompt response, and so forth. In order to address this, we'd like to extend a call for reviewers to help grow our capacity.

If you are interested in being granted review permissions, please respond below. There is no specific criteria, but we are hoping to find folks with a proven track record of open source involvement and a meaningful level of prior involvement with image-rs. Establishing trust is particularly important now that these libraries are now used by hundreds of thousands of repositories and running on billions of devices.

PS: I recently adjusted repository permissions across the org. If you run into any unexpected access problems, please create an issue.

Hi @fintelia great initiative. I would be please to have permission to review or merge at the https://github.com/image-rs/y4m repository. There is currently an open PR image-rs/y4m#40 which I would be happy to merge, for example.

In the interest of establishing credibility: I have been the most active contributor in that repository over the past year. (Although by no means "very active".) I also have written and maintain other rust crates. For example, iana-time-zone, which is currently getting >200K downloads per day. In the image domain, I develop strand-braid.

@astraw just granted you review permissions to all the repositories under image-rs.

@Kagami you're already an admin on y4m, but would you like review permissions for the other repositories as well?

I'd like to start reviewing/triaging all the open PRs on image since I have the free time/motivation at the moment.

Hi @fintelia I am learning Rust and would like to get more involved in the Rust open source community.

I would be happy to contribute to the organization. I can review some small PR to get used to the code base or triage any existing issue.

... at least some prior involvement with image-rs.

I understand I have not contributed to none of these repositories before so it would be very nice if you could point me to existing issues that I could help with.

@DiegoAsterio thanks for your interest! Unfortunately, there really isn't capacity to provide that sort of mentoring for much the same reason there's a backlog of PRs to review.
