The Petlibro app shows the quantity of water and time taken to consume under the heading "Today's Drinking Data"

Is this data available in the API? It'd be great to be able to pull this information into home assistant

What problem does this feature solve?

Allows me to chart water intake over time and spot patterns/when my pet isn't drinking etc

This is a really cool find.

I've been calculating the amount of water intake via home assistant by the difference in reporting of the current water weight, but it seems to be slightly different from what the Petlibro app reports. Which makes me wonder: why?

@xydreen, likely you are calculating total move from 1 number to another when reporting, this would include evaporation. Im assuming the fountain has a motion sensor or something to detect if a cat is drinking and therefore only takes the amount as being drunk when motion is detected? Otherwise all water usage of any kind, even evaporation would show as having been consumed by a cat.

I am actually not sure about the motion detection - you would think there would be something like that, that or it detects a change in the water weight when the drinking begins, starts a timer and then calculates the water taken out when the weight stops changing after x amount of time. Not completely sure.

Actually it looks like it doesn't have a motion sensor - from some research online. That also makes sense - because if it did it would probably have a setting that allows the water to flow when only motion is detected.

True, good point. Does the fountain show what times and how much any pet drank as like history? If so it must detect somehow and have a calculation to remove evaporation, because it wont be saying a cat is drinking constantly due to evaporation surely.

Regardless, we can definitely (and i will) make a sensor that takes Petlibro's total drinking amount and time for the day, and ill also be finding a way to do it per pet.

Not sure how i want to do the per pet tracking - we could do it like the Surepet integration does with a device for each cat to show their status, or we could dynamically create entities inside the feeder/fountain. The only reason that i am hesitant for the 2nd way is that it might result in duplicate sensors if you have for example 2 fountains with the same cats assigned.
