flowblade rendering process stops immediately after starting render

when pressing 'render' or 'to queue' in the render tab, flowblade begins to render, then immediately stops. a file is created after it stops, but is only 48 bytes and holds no data whatsoever--cannot be played. happens whenever i try to render

You should have a hidden folder /.cache in your home folder. If you could post here contents of file homefolder/.cache/flowblade/log_single_render after you have had rendering stopped that would help.

Start Flowblade from terminal with command flowblade or if you have Flatpak flatpak run io.github.jliljebl.Flowblade.

There is long printout that has part similar to this:

XDG Config /home/janne/.config/flowblade
XDG Data /home/janne/.local/share/flowblade
XDG Cache /home/janne/.cache/flowblade

The folder after XDG Cache is where file log_single_render is.

I had a similar problem on Arch Linux and installed the sox_ng and rtaudio packages to fix it as indicated in the cache log, thanks.
