I've received numerous spam messages in recent days that lead to "Spam Abuse from: undefined" and the whois.com lookup ends up returning results for undefined.com which is registered with godaddy. I assume such a report isn't needing to go to the registrar and is a case where the owner or ISP issuing the IP address is who should be reached.
