How to use for Cellular only

Hi!

I found this app while trying to find a solution to the below "issue":

When my phone is on cellular and VPN is not enabled, enforce DNS servers from DNSECURE ( I want to avoid carriers dns servers )

I tried by adding a rule to my selected dns servers and just select "cellular" as the interface match and nothing else but that does not seem to work.

Did I miss something or misunderstood that setting?

The "Apply settings" action behaves as if it does nothing. It cannot be used like a whitelist.

So in your case, please try the following settings.

• Matching Conditions
  • Interface Type Match: Wi-Fi
• Action: Do not apply settings

I'm not sure if I correctly understand what you're saying, but how about adding this single on-demand rule instead of the previous one?

• Matching Conditions

  • Interface Type Match: Wi-Fi (This is not necessarily required.)

  • DNS Server Address Match: Your private DNS server's IP address

• Action: Do not apply settings

Or this?

• Matching Conditions

  • Interface Type Match: Wi-Fi (This is not necessarily required.)

  • SSID Match: Your Wi-Fi's SSID

• Action: Do not apply settings

Ah! Did not realize there was an option to indicate certain ssid so the 2nd one will be perfect and do what i need.

Can I have both actions (your very first suggestion for cellular and this second one) in the same rule or should I create two rules?

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to use the DoH/DoT server you configured with DNSecure on public Wi-Fi, then the latter setting alone is enough.

That is what I want but also on public cellular.

99% of the time, i will have a vpn that overrides that. But I want a way ti enforce the dot/doh servers for when vpn dies and i'm either on public wifi or public cellular

My previous comment covers that as well. Cellular does not match the conditions (the interface is Wi-Fi AND its SSID matches), so the settings will be applied on Cellular.

• Matching Conditions
  • Interface Type Match: Wi-Fi
  • SSID Match: Your Wi-Fi's SSID
• Action: Do not apply settings
