functions seem to not be working with opentelemetry

I'm trying to figure out why my traces are being dropped between the queue proxy and a deployed function written in golang with the cloudevents template. could there be a problem there? when i look at the func-go library it seems like it's not set up for otel, but im not sure I'm on the right track there.
