The other aspect that would simplify things is that we could also have a cookiecutter/template repo and, in this way, also improvements to our shared praeamble and other latex commands would propagate

I will see after the deadline to make a lightweigh template repo (I already have my own for so will just add features in there)

Just to start with some quick "linter", macros for some numbers and something for tables and then we can go from there.

Maybe to just start with the simplest thing and then it's easier to add features that people like

one issue with typst is, however, that publishers might not accept it

Maybe that changes. I doubt the traditional publishers will accept it in the near future, but some ml venues might be more open. You probably saw beyond pdf) from tmlr, so they are trying some new stuff...

This is opening a can of worms: But I am also partially switching back to LaTeX beamer for presentations as it allows me to use some of the copilot tools more easily ... and they also make things more modular
