I couldn't find a way to limit the amount of history that is stored. For example, keeping messages and files only if they're less than X days/weeks/months old, if the storage hasn't passed a certain size or both.

This is a big privacy and stability concern. Keeping things indefinitely always is a VERY bad design choice. I hope I just missed the option if there is one.
Of course, users need to know if the server has this enabled, if they expect their history to remain, but I think users need to get out of the habit of using communication platforms as long-term storage.
It would've been nice if there was an admin command to clear the history manually at least, so that it can be scripted and ran as a service, but couldn't find anything here: https://github.com/matrix-construct/tuwunel/wiki/Admin-Room-Commands-overview
