Does this have any meaning ?

It does not have any special Mermaid-specific meaning. It is just a small Gantt syntax example with playfully chosen labels:

• Waffle is the section name.
• Iron is a task starting in 1982 and lasting three years.
• House is a task starting in 1986 and lasting three years.

The names appear to be a bit of wordplay: “waffle iron” and “Waffle House.” They could be replaced with any other section and task names without changing the syntax.

The functional point of the example is simply to demonstrate section and the start, duration form:
