The minimum viable configuration file is (or should be)... { }However, Terminal will write a couple things to it. That includes a copy of the stock color schemes (until the coming v1.21, which ships with #12800) and some basics that it just likes to have. Those things aren't necessary, however. 😄 |

Nah, that file is just used on first creation. It's supposed to be a "welcome to your Terminal settings!" settings file slash user interface, which somewhat predates us having a settings editor. |

Thank you, that is what I wanted to know, basically..
By expansion, you mean when you hit the Save button from the integrated settings UI, right? Because otherwise, please correct me if I am wrong, nothing should ever be written to I think this was the first thing I've tested with my config file. to see what would happen, and it kept working as before. Unless one uses Save from the settings UI again, then these would be re-added, together with some JSON reformatting (sorting key names alphabetically etc, I think) Messed up my hand-rolled config the first time 😄 |
