Win 10 Can't add anything to split tunnel

Is it a bug?

• I know this is an issue with the app, and contacting Mullvad support is not relevant.

I have checked if others have reported this already

• I have checked the issue tracker to see if others have reported similar issues.

Current Behavior

Mullvad 2026.2

Search function doesn't work. Any letter of the alphabet, any application or .exe file name show No result for ____. Please try a different search

Any .exe I add manually, nothing happens. I double click the exe I want, the explorer window closes and Mullvad doesn't update

Expected Behavior

.exe file should get added to the list

I'm fine with search not working, but manually adding .exe files should at least give an error message if it cannot be added

1. Launch mullvad
2. Open and enable split tunneling
3. search for or add an .exe

I uninstalled 2026.2 and tried the beta. Beta client didn't work either, with the same results.

Hi, thanks for the report.

It seems like a bug in the GUI. Could you verify if the applications are listed by the following CLI command in a terminal, such as PowerShell or Command Prompt:

mullvad split-tunnel get

If this outputs one or more applications the basic split tunnel background functionality works as expected. Please take note if any application in the list is an application that is no longer installed on the system, we have heard one report of this causing issues in the GUI previously.

If the get command listed one or more applications you could try to clear the split applications and then restart the GUI and see if the application list is populated again:

mullvad split-tunnel app clear

Alternatively, if you noted an application in the output by the get command and you know that it is no longer installed on your system you can remove it specifically using the following command:

mullvad split-tunnel app remove "C:\Program Files\..."

Replace C:\Program Files\..." with the full path to the application as listed in the list command. Note that the double quotes surrounding the path are important.

Hi Tobias. I've sent the report through the application.

It appears to be (mostly?) a GUI issue like you said. Adding applications does add them to the list in the cli using the split-tunnel get command

I tried hexchat, RuneLite and Firefox. They all showed up.

I know runelite doesn't go through a lot of your servers so it's easy to test with. It's not being excluded like the CLI suggests.

I uninstalled 2026.2 with Revo Uninstaller Pro and cleaned out registry entries and any leftover files it found, I would assume that a fresh install would not carry the bug over?

Thanks for the update. I've checked through the logs and I kind of suspect that this isn't a GUI bug per se. My best hunch right now is that we encounter an error when we accumulate the list of installed programs on your device, which is why the list is empty in the GUI. I'll have to take another look at this and will get back to you.
