What's happened to editor with last release?

Hi all, the ctrl+d shortcut to delete rows doesn't work anymore, besides that It’s changed for the worse – is it possible to go back to the previous editor?

We are not going back. I'll restore the Ctrl+d keybind, we didn't even know that one existed, thanks for the heads up.

What other changes have you noticed for the worse?

i've fixed 4 bugs today, and i have the old themes ready to come back.

To clarify, did Ctrl +d delete the current row or the selected rows or what?

I'm sorry what difference do you mean from line to row? if there is a line break its another line, and the editor doesn't differentiate rows apart from that.

The one i'm restoring deletes the line, if you are in line 5 it deletes line 5.

Okay so i just went back to the prior version of HB, v3.21, and confirmed that it deletes lines, not rows with ctrl d. If I had Line 9, and that line was wrapped within the text editor to be multiple "rows" in the editor, the hotkey would delete all of line 9.

For example, here is Line 42:

When I hit the hotkey, it deletes all of line 42, which is multiple "rows":

So just fixing it as @5e-Cleric says he is doing will get it back to what it was before.

Just out of curiosity, what do you use to delete an entire line in the old editor and in this new one? I think it’s an essential feature for anyone who writes a lot; I’m really struggling without it :-)

I think this whole thread is about how ctrl/cmd d deletes a whole line? And that update to the editor has now been pushed through in the last 24 hours, and is working fine in the live site.

Have I misunderstood your question?

There is a lot of consternation about this new editor-- themes are missing, shortcuts are breaking-- and it's sort of a rapid-fire comment period here and on Reddit about these issues. Totally fair and even welcome, it's good to get these issues sorted out.

However, I think there was maybe a lack of communication about this big change either before or as it happened, especially about the benefits that the new editor will bring.

There should be a pinned post on the subreddit about this update, first of all. Typically updates do get posted, but seems like this was missed.

The post this time should likely be more than just "here is a list of updates". Mostly because of the amount of feedback it is getting. Talk about the new editor and why it is an improvement or at least a step forward. What the new editor enables, like the potential for real-time collaborative editing, better mobile support, etc. Include in the post a request for themes so they are in one place.

The update came when i was asleep, a notification would have definitely helped.

Another issue is that when I highlight a a portion of text, the highlight doesn't compare, resulting impossible see what I've just highlighted, I have to use only the cursor to know the last point of what was highlighted

That was reported elsewhere, and I believe I saw that @5e-Cleric has already pushed a fix for that a few hours ago but it just hasn't gone live yet. Likely soon. Thanks for mentioning it.
