Not a bug — this was an intentional product call. PR #6168 (merged late July) removed the theme controls and locked the app to light mode because workspace surfaces don't have dark tokens yet; keeping the picker in place meant dark-mode users saw a half-styled experience. Any stored dark preference is now coerced to light on first read. Issue #6562 covers the same behaviour reported from the Windows side after the v0.18.0 in-app update if you want the full breakdown.

The request for a proper theme toggle makes a lot of sense — once workspace dark token coverage lands, restoring the picker is the natural next step. I've flagged this for the product team to weigh in on timing and scope, and we'll track it here.

For me this product is now useless in the sense that its hard for my eyes to adapt light-only theme. I hope they will add-in a dark theme again.

I definitively didn't understand the decision/idea around do this as well, it's so simple/easy to have a toggle nowadays, why enforce user to use light mode 🤷🏻

For a software project specifically for UI design, the UX is not good. The website is well made, I wish the desktop app was as well made...
I made the mistake of updating. I can't even find a way to downgrade in app

Hey @Renno231 — fair point, and thanks for calling out the downgrade pain too.

From the current desktop update flow, we don't appear to have an in-app downgrade / rollback option today — the app exposes checking, downloading, installing, and restarting updates, but not reverting to an older build. If you need to get back to an older version right now, the practical workaround is to reinstall an earlier desktop release from the Releases page:

This issue is already tracking the light-mode-only regression / product-direction side, and the missing rollback path is useful extra desktop-UX context as well.
