Enhance provider discovery with categories and short descriptions #219

Description

Problem

As the number of supported providers continues to grow, browsing the provider list becomes increasingly difficult for users who are exploring rather than looking for a specific provider.

The current alphabetically ordered flat list works well when a user already knows the provider they need. However, many users discover integrations by the type of capability they want, and a provider name alone does not explain its domain or what it can be used for.

Proposal

Consider improving provider discoverability in two complementary ways:

  1. Add a category-based browsing experience (or category filters) based on provider function/domain, such as communication, project management, CRM, productivity, storage, payments, analytics, and AI.
  2. Add a short one-line description for each provider in the home/provider list, briefly explaining what the provider is and the kinds of tasks or data it supports.

The existing alphabetical view could be retained alongside categories and search, so users who already know the provider name can continue to find it quickly.

Benefits

  • Helps new users explore integrations by intent instead of by vendor name.
  • Makes the provider catalog easier to scan and understand at a glance.
  • Reduces the effort required to identify the right provider.
  • Provides a more scalable discovery experience as the catalog continues to grow.

The category taxonomy and description format could be designed to support providers belonging to multiple categories where appropriate.
