I have some large geo rasters. I can load them and display them in geo libre, but can embed them or save them with a project. I then extracted lines from them, simplified and converted to geojsons. Some of them can now load, others for a wider area are still too large. As vectors is nice because colors, etc can be adjusted in the viewer. I did find a way to convert geojson to geoparquet in the geo libre processing tools. I had to select wait a few times. It too was too large, it gave a message that things may freeze and they did. Part of it loaded. That was just trying to load it as a file to the map. I haven't tried hosting it somewhere and adding it as a link. I still have to look into how to do that. Will that allow large geojson or geoparque layers to work? The geojson was about 350MB and the geoparque was about 170MB. I'm new to all of this but even though geoparque may be big it can be searched or loaded a lot faster so I think maybe it is sort of like tiling and only the parts needed at a given time can load rather then the whole file. I do like the idea of using vectors, but if that won't work it seems like loading a raster as an http link would persist with the project. If anyone can give me some clues or point to so documentation on these question I'd appreciate it. |

For raster datasets, use Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) format. For vector datasets, use PMTiles format. |

OK Thanks. The TIFs are COGs. I'll look into PMTiles format.
