Introducing the new Natural Earth plugin for GeoLibre!

World Base Map draft (Natural Earth 6.0) (https://shadedrelief.com/ne-draft) by Tom Patterson and Nathaniel Vaughn Kelso was recently released in shapefile format. I converted the datasets to GeoJSON, GeoParquet, and PMTiles formats and make them available on Source Cooperative (https://source.coop/opengeos/natural-earth).

To make these datasets easy to explore and use, I also built a Natural Earth plugin for GeoLibre. Open Plugins > Web Services > Natural Earth and you can:

• Add any of 35 layers instantly: land, ocean, coastlines, admin boundaries, rivers, lakes, glaciers, wetlands, urban areas, bathymetry, coral reefs, airports, railroads, and more. Click Add and it lands on the map.
• Pick the format that fits your work: every layer is published four ways. PMTiles for instant vector-tile rendering, GeoParquet for analysis, GeoJSON for portability, and zipped Shapefiles for the tools that still want them.
• Browse the real bucket: the file list is the live listing from Source Cooperative, not a catalog baked into the app, so what you see is always what is actually there.
• Take it with you: download any layer, or copy its URL straight into DuckDB, QGIS, or a notebook.
