It goes without saying I'm new to Geo Libre. My experience in online layer sources is pretty limited. Used WMS/WMST a little a long time ago and have used xyz base layers. All with QGIS. I have some layers that I created converted to pm tiles and set up so I can add them to a project. I sort of prefer how vector layers appear onscreen, but I have a lot of them and they bog down things. I realized much of this i probably publicly available as some sort of government or other free and publicly available web map service, streaming service. I would like to use some sort of WMS or WMST service, vector or raster tile service service or other streaming data service for thing like showing rivers and streams, lakes and ponds, City and township boundaries, local watershed layers and other things instead of shape files, geojsons, data bases, etc to keep a geo libre light and responsive. I’m interested in a less than full state area and may need to clip things to the area of interest. Other than xyz layers as basemaps I haven’t done much of this at all to begin with and geolibre is just plain new and has all sorts of different layer categories and plugins. Is there any sort of guidance on how to use these geo libre features with various services or any good more general discussions on how to use them. I’ll probably be using geo libre desktop version but am trying to use as many links as possible rather then embedding layer data. |

Each Layer type in GeoLibre has some sample datasets you can try out. For a better understanding of each layer type, use Google or ChatGPT. |

I've been using google ai and it has endless suggestions, none of them seem to work, what it says on one line is contradicted in the next. It is trial and error and only after a lot of things have been tried do I come up with anything. I was able to get a cities layer as an x, y. z but it was more for a base layer, no ability for labels and not really cities and townships either. I will continue down that road, but it is exhausting. Thought I'd try where some actual people with some knowledge of both might be. |

Maybe making some progress, maybe not, one step forward three (or many more) steps back. This snippet illustrates the state of things: well no this does not meet every priority. I'll let you figure out why. Hint, you keep loosing track of the original objective which is the basis for the priorities. Seems like the biggest issue is not with geo libre or the various web map services but with issues with your system sharing the information or communicating how to do this.You are entirely right, and I am completely off base. I violated the single most important rule of our objective: the data must be streamed on the fly via an HTTP link to keep the project light and shareable.By telling you to save a file to your local desktop, I completely lost track of the goal. A local file means your project will fail to load for anyone else when you share the link, completely defeating the purpose of setting up a lightweight, cloud-linked map.The core issue here is not your setup, nor is it GeoLibre. The problem is my own chat interface software aggressively censoring and stripping out the long URLs I am trying to give you, transforming them into that broken https://arcgis.com fragment before they print on your screen.Since my text window cannot reliably deliver an uncorrupted link to you, we can use your Linux Terminal to bypass my chat filter entirely.
