Issues with Disk Quota management

I'm having a hard time auditing what space is used in my quota and which projects and files I need to look at to resolve my quota issues.

I have resized the images on my local machine that are causing most of the space usage:

However when I try to sync them I get this:

I tried also to delete the image files on the server first, but I can only delete previous version of each, not the current one:

So now I am wondering what is the best practice to liberate space (short of deleting the whole project)?

@timlinux , have you ever explored the qfieldcloud-cli interface (https://github.com/opengisch/qfieldcloud-sdk-python/?tab=readme-ov-file#cli-usage)? That offers a nice way to delete individual files.

You can list files this way:

>> qfieldcloud-cli list-files 7998314b-9304-4183-b00f-57fe23e79f6d

Files for project "7998314b-9304-4183-b00f-57fe23e79f6d":

That'll allow you to then upload the smaller sized images without having to remove the whole project.

Edit: you could also do that via QFieldSync this way:

• Move the large images out of your locally-stored project folder used to synchronize the files to/from QFC
• Hit the synchronize action, then click on the "prefer local" button, which will result in file deletion on QFC:

• Resize your large images, move them back into your locally-stored project folder
• Hit the synchronize action where you'll be able to push the reduced images

Ok so I managed to replace the files with smaller versions:

I tried again, resizing the files then pushing like this:

During the sync it starts reporting quota errors:

You can free up some space by deleting files versions, to delete versions of files in QFieldCloud, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to the "Files" section of your project.
2. Locate the layer for which you want to delete versions.
3. Click on the three dots (...) next to the layer name.
4. A dropdown menu will appear with different options.
5. Select the "Versions" option from the menu.
6. You will see a list of versions for that specific layer.
7. Identify the version you want to delete and click on the red trash bin icon next to it.
8. Confirm the deletion when prompted, if you want to delete all versions before a specific version, you you can activate the option "Also delete n version(s) older than the selected version."..

Hi @timlinux we are under "the great refactoring" on how file storage works. We are releasing this new development very soon, as well as improvements on the about data usage reporting.

As for the deletion of the latest version, yes, it is a suboptimal solution that was the right thing to do at the moment. After we are done with the planned changes, this limitation will be gone.

As for the screenshot you have shared on QFieldSync, "Remove from project" refers to "remove from your QField project", as QFieldCloud project assumes all files should be upload, so it supports cross desktop device work.

I have taken your remarks in consideration (since the initial report last year) and we are slowly applying improvements based on your and our other users feedback.

Hi @timlinux,

For the deletion of a file in the cloud, you need to first delete it from your local project directory.

1. Locate the project path (../{user}/QField/cloud/{Project name}/).
2. Inside the project folder, find the file and make a backup copy or move it from this folder to a different location for safety.
3. Next, delete the file from the folder on your computer.
4. Now, in QField Sync, press "Synchronize" and select the preference "Local." This action will display a list of files that will be deleted in QFieldCloud.
