Description of issue

On my macOS Tahoe 26.5 the current Kate installation is broken:

SingleApplication: Unable to create block.
SingleApplication:  QSharedMemory::KeyError "QSharedMemory::attach (shm_open): bad name"

The installed version is 26.04,11724.

% kate --version
kate 26.04.1

Apparently at https://cdn.kde.org/ci-builds/utilities/kate/release-26.04/ I can see the kate-release_26.04-11724-macos-clang-arm64.dmg which means that the project released a broken macOS image.

As a macOS user I would like to have a working Kate program.

• Merge Request !2117 - resolves this by disabling SingleApplication entirely, however since this disables the last remaining IPC mechanism (I don't think D-Bus is used on macOS) I suspect this will break command line usage/arguments that allow attaching to existing Kate instances

I removed kate from brew, and installed the 25.12,11269 version which works 🎉
