Using VisualCircuit to create new ComputerVision and Robotics applications is a good step for you now. In addition, understanding the VisualCircuit code base will help you to make a meaningful proposal for Project#6, both the frontend and the block execution logic. Anyway the main goal of project #6 is not refining the tool itself but to create a collection of useful blocks for developing robotics applications with VisualCircuit, the larger that collection the better. Hi everyone!
My name is Yihong Liu, and I’m writing to express my strong interest in contributing to #6 [VisualCircuit] for GSoC 2026.
I have a background in Mechanical Engineering and experience working on ROS 2 projects. Currently, I am further developing my software skills through a Full-Stack bootcamp focusing on React, Node.js, and Python.
I am currently setting up my local environment. While navigating a codebase of this scale is a new challenge for me, I am dedicated to working through it and completing the "Technical Demo Challenge" soon.
As I begin exploring the VisualCircuit repository, I have a quick question for the mentors: Given my background in ROS 2 and my current focus on web tech, would you recommend I start by looking at the block execution logic in Python, or should I dive into the React/TypeScript frontend structure first? I want to make sure my initial efforts align with the project's current priorities.
Looking forward to your guidance! @jmplaza
