[GSoC] Introduction & Interested In Project #6 VisualCircuit

Hi everyone!

My name is Yihong Liu, and I’m writing to express my strong interest in contributing to #6 [VisualCircuit] for GSoC 2026.

I have a background in Mechanical Engineering and experience working on ROS 2 projects. Currently, I am further developing my software skills through a Full-Stack bootcamp focusing on React, Node.js, and Python.

I am currently setting up my local environment. While navigating a codebase of this scale is a new challenge for me, I am dedicated to working through it and completing the "Technical Demo Challenge" soon.

As I begin exploring the VisualCircuit repository, I have a quick question for the mentors: Given my background in ROS 2 and my current focus on web tech, would you recommend I start by looking at the block execution logic in Python, or should I dive into the React/TypeScript frontend structure first? I want to make sure my initial efforts align with the project's current priorities.

Using VisualCircuit to create new ComputerVision and Robotics applications is a good step for you now.

In addition, understanding the VisualCircuit code base will help you to make a meaningful proposal for Project#6, both the frontend and the block execution logic. Anyway the main goal of project #6 is not refining the tool itself but to create a collection of useful blocks for developing robotics applications with VisualCircuit, the larger that collection the better.
