This doc describes my experiments with this.

While it's been done before (links in the doc), this offering has:

• Asynchronous design performs detection as a background task.
• Object oriented design allows N concurrent detectors (for small N).
• Suitable for kinetic art or Theremin-style music?
• Human-written code with comments and descriptive text encourages hacking/improvements.
