COSMIC Desktop freezes when entering fullscreen (Wayland, hybrid Intel + NVIDIA GPU)

Hi everyone,

I’m running Pop!_OS 24.04 with the new COSMIC Desktop (Rust version), and I’ve run into a really frustrating issue: whenever I put any app into fullscreen mode (Firefox, VLC, etc.), the entire screen freezes. Audio keeps playing, but the display completely locks up and I have to press "esc"

Here’s my setup:

1. Laptop GPU: Intel UHD ( Alder Lake ) + NVIDIA RTX 3060 Mobile (Max-Q)
2. Session: Wayland (COSMIC Comp)
3. Driver: system76-driver-nvidia (v 580.82.09)
4. Kernel: 6.16.3-76061603-generic

No external monitors connected — just the laptop screen.

Logs show repeated errors like:
cosmic-comp: DRM access error: Page flip commit failed on /dev/dri/card0 (Invalid argument)

I’ve already tried:

• Switching between integrated / hybrid / NVIDIA-only modes via system76-power
• Updating everything (apt update && apt full-upgrade)

Yes, this is for questions and discussions. Issues and bugs should be reported to either https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch or directly to the affected repo if you know which component could be the cause (cosmic-epoch has an issue guide that can help point you to the right repo when creating an issue).
But also, this seems to be the same issue as pop-os/cosmic-comp#1862, so it has already been reported.
