It's your latest ISO booting live in a fresh VM. I didn't touch/change anything.

Looks like a live session. The greeter is bypassed upon first boot in live sessions, so logging out just bypasses it again. The lock screen should work, if you need to lock a live session for some reason.

Auto-login and logout are separate features; one doesn't prevent or interfere with the other.

Also, locking the screen is not the same as logging out. They serve different purposes and, by definition, produce different results.

COSMIC should always call the greeter when the user clicks on logout. That's how all distributions and desktop environments behave.
