Known Limitations

  • macOS only — LoopRec uses AVCaptureSession and macOS-specific audio APIs.
  • BlackHole 2ch required — system/meeting audio loopback depends on BlackHole 2ch.
  • Technical users — best suited for users comfortable with Audio MIDI Setup and Zoom audio routing configuration.
  • Aggregate Device pitfall — using an Aggregate Device as the microphone source is a common cause of echo or double-capture.
  • AirPods routing — AirPods setups usually require careful Multi-Output Device routing to avoid missing loopback audio or echo.
  • Recording-first — transcription and summarization are downstream local steps, not built into the app.
  • Not notarized — binary distribution is local/ad-hoc signed. You may need to allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security on first launch.

LoopRec is intentionally focused on a local-first, privacy-first workflow rather than a zero-setup consumer app.
