Unable to hide user accounts

I'm not sure if I'm looking in the wrong place but I can't find a way to hide user accounts from the list.
I've tried marking these accounts as system in /var/lib/AccountsService/users/ as I have read some display managers might respect it but regreet doesn't seem to.

Context: I have a couple of user accounts for testing purposes or running some specific software. These accounts are not system accounts, they have home directories and their own DEs and everything else the same as any other normal account . But I login into them so infrequently that I'd like to hide them from the list, so it wouldn't clutter the list and I could always just manually enter the login by hand when I actually needed to.

Is this feature just not implemented yet?

ReGreet assumes that a "normal" user is one whose uid is in a certain range, as specified by /etc/login.defs or /usr/etc/login.defs. This means that you can't change a user from normal to system according to ReGreet, as I haven't implemented a feature to hide users (or get a different definition of normal/system users).

What would be a better way to implement this feature? Some kind of "hidden_users" config option or implementing full support for the AccountsService D-Bus API and using GetCachedUsers() instead of using getpwent()?

I might take a look if I can implement this but I'd like to know what you believe would be a better direction for ReGreet.

(Personally I prefer the second option but the first would require less work)

Well, if there's a standard for this and a library that takes care of it, then I'd prefer that, as then it would greatly simplify the existing code. Otherwise, you could add options to the config for skipping/hiding users.
