For possible extension: it might be useful to set a threshold value of modelled cases, with the growth rate not shown for periods in which the value is less than that threshold. Just ran the sars-cov-2 example and the growth rates are very uncertain for Omicron initially (as a year before omicron emerged) which makes the plot a little difficult to parse. An option might be useful. See the figure in the AJE paper
