Site switcher resets after session expiry, UI doesn't reset

Bug description

When you've selected a site with the site switcher at the right top and the session expires, the selected site resets to the first one in the dropdown.

Preferably, the state selected earlier would persist, so that one could continue where left off. At the very least though, it should reset to the site that is really selected. Only a hard reload fixes the site switcher and shows the current site the CP is querying.

How to reproduce

• Select a different site than the first one
• let the session expire
• log back in
• see the site switcher showing the previously selected site, but querying the first one in the list
