Interaction between guide_circles and geom_smooth

I have difficulties using guide_circles and geom_smooth. When mixing the both I get a strange result. Using override.aes = list(color="black", fill = "transparent", shape = 1) (or some variations) does not change the issue.

An exemple is there:

library(ggplot2)
ggplot(mtcars) +
  aes(x = mpg, y = hp, color = cyl, size=hp) +
  geom_point(aes(x = mpg, y = hp, fill = cyl, size=hp), shape=21) +
  geom_smooth(aes(x = mpg, y = hp)) + # without geom_smooth that's ok
  scale_size(breaks = c(100, 250)) +
  guides(size = guide_circles(override.aes = list(fill = "transparent", color = "black")))

the result is not as expected (look at the circles legend):
