Long time a go I used to play GURPS, and the basic book came with a Solo Adventure, you created a character and after that followed the steps that the book gave to you, some steps are just reading an making a choice like go left or right, and other ended up in a combat against a NPC, others you had to make some attribute check to know what happens.
Here you can find this section of the book
I think if there is a way to implemente a system like this it could end being a nice feature, a couple of small quests could be available from the start, and new ones been unlocked after you reach higher level. others could be added as special events. Maybe could be different types of quest, like ones with only combat, others like explore a forest or a dungeon, some could be pretty straight forward, others more complex with different path options, reward and endings.
