I dont know if you changed this - the grey pattern is the placeholder for evicted images from the image store. It gets shown to indicate, that there are references to images, that are not longer in the image store. Images get deleted from memory pressure or several other actions (e.g. tile counter dropped to zero or the marker got cleaned).

@jerch Ah Interesting. I don't think I have tried to change the grey pattern. I've only just start seeing this.. on zsh (not on bash)

I feel like this particular one would be a bug since same command yields image on bash but greyed out on zsh.
So the image on zsh is somehow getting evicted.. when using noMove flag from https://github.com/xtermjs/vtc
