Default to read-only view mode when opening events and tasks

Feature description

To create this issue:

• make a widget of the calendar in Calendar Event List 4x4 style.
• click directly on an event. This will take you into the edit mode of the event.

For comparison, if you use something like etar calendar , it will take you instead to a view mode where there's a pencil icon at the top which then takes you into edit mode.

Can a similar interface be supported here?

Why do you want this feature?

I ask because often times I only want to view an event and not accidentally edit a field with an errant click. Say I want to copy out a URL link or verify an address. Because there are many fields in an event, there are not many 'dead spaces' where you can swipe up from, and usually you will start selecting text in a field. I also like how the text is formatted if the description of the event is long. Sometimes with automated .ics files (hotel reservations, for example) there are phone numbers, check in details, etc, which is nicer to scroll when you cannot accidentally enter a field window and have the on screen keyboard popping up. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you for clarifying that point. Yes, it would be great as a default view any time an event is accessed.

This is the only thing I miss from the stock widget; for instance opening an event and then clicking a link in the description is now needless an extra step to highlight the field and choose share/open

In a similar note, when I try to open the calendar from any souce (in my instance, the default calendar app link in another widget/app) it brings me to the default view, which is not the one that I've set up. To be more specific, I would like to have always the start view as "Monthly and daily view", but it always shows me the "daily view" instead. I've set under settings -> widget -> view to open from the event list widget as month and day but it doesn't change the view from the calendar link. I hope I was clear enough

I fully support your proposal, @t-391 .

It is understood that you suggest introducing an "Edit Event" button to Fossify Calendar.

As you highlight, Fossify Calendar is vulnerable to mistyping.

To solve it, it is effective to implement your idea.
• Allow users to only read the descriptions of calendar events.
• Add an Edit Event button under a three-dot menu.

Below is the supplementary explanation about why I agree with @t-391 .

Fossify Calendar's event descriptions are unrealiable. This is because I may have unintentionally rewritten them.

On Google Calendar, when I click on a calendar event, it only SHOWS the event details. Unless I tap "Edit Event", I cannot change the details.

Therefore, this is possible.

1. On Monday, I add an online meeting to the calendar. I write down the meeting URL in the Event Description.
2. On Thursday, I view the meeting's details.
3. On Friday, I open the meeting URL.

However, Fossify Calendar is trickier.
When I tap a calendar event, it allows me to EDIT the details.

As a result, it is dangerous to take the three actions above.
What happens?

1. On Monday, I write down a correct meeting URL on the calendar.
2. On Thusday, I view the meeting's details. When the cursor is on the meeting URL, I unintentionally tap the keyboard. I continue reading, tap the check mark, and close the app.
3. On Friday, I click on the URL to join the meeting. However, it does not work because it is altered.
