A minimal repository to test GitHub Pages deployment and configuration.
- Verify GitHub Pages builds and serves content from this repository.
- Test branch/folder settings (main branch, gh-pages branch, /docs folder).
- Validate custom domain, HTTPS, and Jekyll build behavior if enabled.
- index.html — simple landing page used for verification
- 404.html — optional custom 404 page
- docs/ — optional site source when using /docs publishing
- assets/ — images, CSS, JS used by the test page
- README.md — this file
- Edit or confirm index.html contains visible text (e.g., "GitHub Pages test — OK").
- Push to the repository.
- In repository Settings → Pages, choose the publishing source:
- Branch: main (root) OR
- Branch: main /docs folder OR
- Branch: gh-pages (root)
- Save; wait a minute for the site to build.
- Visit the provided site URL shown in the Pages settings (or your custom domain).
- index.html loads and displays expected text
- Custom 404 page appears for unknown paths (if 404.html present)
- Assets (CSS/JS/images) load correctly
- HTTPS enabled and certificate issued (if using custom domain)
- Jekyll build works (if using Jekyll files like _config.yml)
