…#1357) ## Summary - Remove the conditional override that swapped the default dora image for `ethpandaops/dora:gloas-support` / `ethpandaops/dora:heze-support` when those forks were scheduled. - Remove the equivalent override that pointed assertoor at `ethpandaops/assertoor:gloas-support`. - The `:latest` images now cover gloas/heze scenarios, so the per-fork overrides are no longer needed. ## Test plan - [ ] Spin up a devnet with `gloas_fork_epoch` scheduled and confirm dora + assertoor still come up healthy on `:latest`. - [ ] Spin up a devnet with `heze_fork_epoch` scheduled and confirm dora still comes up healthy on `:latest`. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…es (ethpandaops#1355) ## Summary Adds a `commit_boost_config` parameter to `mev_params` that allows users to provide a custom Commit-Boost configuration template as inline TOML content when using `mev_type: commit-boost`. ## Motivation The current Commit-Boost integration uses a hardcoded PBS-only config template (`cb-config.toml.tmpl`) that only supports `[pbs]` + `[[relays]]` + `[logs]`. This means users cannot test Commit-Boost features that require additional configuration sections: - `[signer]` (local keystores, Dirk, Web3Signer) - `[[modules]]` (custom commit modules) - `[[mux]]` (per-validator relay routing) - `[metrics]` - PBS tuning (`header_validation_mode`, `extra_validation_enabled`, timing games) This change lets users pass a full CB config while still benefiting from automatic relay URL and genesis timestamp injection via template variables. ## Changes - **`sanity_check.star`**: added `commit_boost_config` to the `mev_params` allowlist - **`input_parser.star`**: added `commit_boost_config` with default `""` to `get_default_mev_params()` - **`network_params.yaml`**: documented the new parameter with usage example - **`mev_boost_launcher.star`**: if `mev_params.commit_boost_config` is set, use it as the config template instead of reading from `static_files`. Template variables (`{{ .Network }}`, `{{ .Port }}`, `{{ .Relays }}`, `{{ .Timestamp }}`) work in both paths. When the field is empty (default), behavior is identical to before. ## Example ```yaml # Test config: mux routing with single relay backing both entries # Tests that CB parses [[mux]] correctly # Both relay entries point at the same flashbots relay with different IDs. participants: - el_type: geth cl_type: lighthouse count: 2 mev_type: commit-boost mev_params: mev_boost_image: commit-boost/pbs:kurtosis mev_relay_image: ethpandaops/mev-boost-relay:main mev_builder_cl_image: sigp/lighthouse:latest mev_builder_image: ethpandaops/reth-rbuilder:develop commit_boost_config: | chain = { genesis_time_secs = {{ .Timestamp }}, path = "{{ .Network }}" } [pbs] host = "0.0.0.0" port = {{ .Port }} skip_sigverify = true timeout_get_header_ms = 950 {{ range $index, $relay := .Relays }} [[relays]] id = "relay_{{$index}}" url = "{{ $relay }}" {{- end }} [[mux]] id = "fast_path" validator_pubkeys = [ "0x8000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000deadbeef", ] timeout_get_header_ms = 500 late_in_slot_time_ms = 1000 [[mux.relays]] id = "mux_relay" url = "{{ index .Relays 0 }}" [logs.stdout] level = "debug" [logs.file] enabled = false additional_services: - dora ``` --------- Signed-off-by: JasonVranek <jasonvranek@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Barnabas Busa <barnabas.busa@ethereum.org>
… 5.3.6, tempo in zkvm tests (ethpandaops#1359) ## Summary - Add new CL `network_params.confirmation_byzantine_threshold` (default `25` for both mainnet and minimal presets); threaded through `input_parser`, `sanity_check`, `el_cl_genesis_generator`, and `values.env.tmpl`; documented in `README.md` and `network_params.yaml` - Bump `DEFAULT_ETHEREUM_GENESIS_GENERATOR_IMAGE` from `5.3.5` to `5.3.6` - Add `tempo` to `additional_services` in `.github/tests/1gpu_zkvm.yaml_norun` and `.github/tests/8gpu_zkvm.yaml_norun` ## Test plan - [ ] CI passes - [ ] Confirm `CONFIRMATION_BYZANTINE_THRESHOLD=25` ends up in the rendered `values.env` for a default run - [ ] Override `confirmation_byzantine_threshold` via `network_params.yaml` and confirm it propagates to the genesis generator - [ ] Run `kurtosis run --enclave eip8025-zkboost-1gpu . --args-file .github/tests/1gpu_zkvm.yaml_norun` and confirm tempo is up - [ ] Run `kurtosis run --enclave eip8025-zkboost-8gpu . --args-file .github/tests/8gpu_zkvm.yaml_norun` and confirm tempo is up

## Summary - Pin `grafana/tempo` image from `:latest` to `:2.10.4` (latest stable v2 release) - `:latest` now tracks the `main` branch which includes Tempo 3.0 pre-release breaking changes that removed the `ingester` and `compactor` top-level config fields - See grafana/tempo#6384 ## Test plan - [ ] Run a devnet with `tempo` in `additional_services` and confirm traces are collected 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-authored-by: Barnabas Busa <21987084+barnabasbusa@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…head disagreements (ethpandaops#1360) ## Summary The bundled `static_files/assertoor-config/tests/stability-check.yaml` defines `check_consensus_forks` with no `config:` block. As a result, it falls through to assertoor's `DefaultConfig()`: ```go // ethpandaops/assertoor pkg/tasks/check_consensus_forks/config.go func DefaultConfig() Config { return Config{ MinCheckEpochCount: 1, MaxForkDistance: 1, } } ``` `MaxForkCount` is therefore the Go zero value, **0**, which combined with `MaxForkDistance: 1` means that any transient head-view disagreement between two CL clients within a single slot distance trips the check. In multi-CL-type devnets (e.g. teku + lighthouse) with `seconds_per_slot` in the 6–8s range, such momentary disagreements are routine and nearly unavoidable on a small validator set. This is the primary flake signature we observe in [Erigon's kurtosis-pectra CI](https://github.com/erigontech/erigon/actions/runs/24561747013/job/71811815555): ``` check failed: too many forks. (have: 1, want <= 0) ``` ## Change Add an explicit `config:` block under `check_consensus_forks` setting `maxForkDistance: 3`. This tolerates transient head lag up to 3 slots while leaving `MaxForkCount` at its default of 0, so any genuinely divergent fork still fails fast. Note: the pass/fail in assertoor is `len(headForks) - 1 > MaxForkCount`, so a non-zero `maxForkCount` would let up to N simultaneous divergent heads slip by regardless of their length. Keeping it at 0 is the stricter and safer choice. ## Test plan - [x] `git diff` shows only the 2-line config addition - [ ] Sanity-check from a maintainer on whether 3-slot tolerance is the right default --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Barnabas Busa <barnabas.busa@ethereum.org>
## Summary - Bump default `ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator` image from `5.3.6` to `6.0.0` (constants, `network_params.yaml`, README example) - Revert default teku CL and VC image back to `consensys/teku:latest` (was temporarily pointed at `ethpandaops/teku:master` in ethpandaops#1332) ## Test plan - [ ] `kurtosis run --enclave egg-bump . --args-file network_params.yaml` comes up on all clients - [ ] Teku participants pull `consensys/teku:latest` by default
## Summary Bump `ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator` from `6.0.1` → `6.0.2`. Release: https://github.com/ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator/releases/tag/v6.0.2 Picks up the Nethermind chainspec transition timestamps for two bal-devnet-4 EIPs at the Gloas/Amsterdam fork: - EIP-7976 — Increase Calldata Floor Cost (64/64) - EIP-7981 — Increase Access List Cost Without these fields in the generated chainspec, Nethermind runs Amsterdam without the new calldata-floor and access-list gas rules and diverges from clients (e.g. geth) that activate both EIPs at the Amsterdam fork timestamp. Upstream PR: ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator#286 ## Test plan - [ ] Boot a Kurtosis devnet-4 (lighthouse + nethermind) with the bumped image and confirm no consensus divergence against geth across the Amsterdam fork boundary. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Fix the grafana dashbaord proof trace panel
- Update launcher to adapt to `zkboost@v0.6.0` configuration
- Update `--program-path` to use `--elf-path`
- Since `ere-server` supports `--elf-url` now, downloading program
`run_sh` is removed
- Remove `--elf-path` since I don't see a simple approach in `kurtosis`
CLI to upload a local ELF file (outside of `ethereum-package`)
- Auto resoluation of `ere` and `ere-guests` versions
When `zkvm.kind = ere` without the `image` or `elf_url`, it resolves the
version by checking the `Cargo.toml` of zkboost repo at the revision of
the zkboost image, and fill in the fields by:
- `image`:
`ghcr.io/eth-act/ere/ere-server-{zkvm_kind}:{ere_version}{suffix}`
(suffix is `-cuda` if GPU configured)
- `elf_url`:
- Add default configuration for ZisK proof types (`shm_size`, `ulimits`,
and `envs`)
…-config devnet (ethpandaops#1363) ## Summary Three changes to make the EIP-8025 zkboost devnet work out of the box from this repo. Two commits; second one is a clean superset of the first. > **Tempo fix note:** ethpandaops#1362 landed the tempo-schema fix earlier today (pin to `grafana/tempo:2.10.4`). This PR rebased on top of it and dropped my redundant tempo commit. Remaining scope is purely zkboost. - **`test(zkboost):` populate `.github/tests/zkboost.yaml`** with a working 2+2 split (2 supernode proof-generators + 2 non-supernode verifiers) mirroring the canonical mock config at [`eth-act/lighthouse#optional-proofs`](https://github.com/eth-act/lighthouse/blob/optional-proofs/scripts/local_testnet/network_params_eip8025_zkboost.yaml). The current version in main is a skeleton that doesn't actually launch a working EIP-8025 devnet. - **`test(zkboost):` align `8gpu_zkvm.yaml_norun` CL image** with the published upstream `ethpandaops/lighthouse:eth-act-optional-proofs` (was pointing at `ghcr.io/eth-act/lighthouse/lighthouse`, an intermediate build artefact not kept in sync with the optional-proofs branch). - **`feat(zkboost):` default to reth-zisk mock + `info, zkboost=debug` logging** so `additional_services: [zkboost]` alone yields a working mock devnet with no `zkboost_params:` block required. Matches the reference devnet config maintained in eth-act/lighthouse. Image and instance defaults unchanged. With the new defaults, `.github/tests/zkboost.yaml` drops `zkboost_params` entirely and relies on them. ## Why each change **zkboost.yaml population.** The file previously had `count: 2` and two mock zkvm entries but no `--proof-engine-endpoint` wiring on participants, no `zkboost_params.image`, and no `instances:`. Launching it didn't exercise any EIP-8025 path. The updated version mirrors the working mock config maintained in eth-act/lighthouse alongside the CL fork, so ethereum-package stays a canonical entry-point for anyone running the EIP-8025 reference devnet. **8gpu image alignment.** The image name divergence was silent breakage — the `ghcr.io/eth-act/lighthouse/lighthouse` tag is a transient build artefact and not the canonical fork image. Matches the mock config's image choice. **Defaults → zero-config devnet.** Previously a user adding `- zkboost` to `additional_services` would get an `ethrex-zisk` mock with constant 6s proving and 128 KiB proofs — fine but surprising, and with `RUST_LOG=info` which hides enough detail to make the first-time debugging experience painful. The new defaults match the reference config so the package and the lighthouse-side reference devnet agree on what "default mock zkboost" means, and debug logging makes first-run inspection much easier. Users who want the old behaviour can still set `zkboost_params.zkvms` and `env.RUST_LOG` explicitly; only the default shifts. ## Test plan - [x] **zkboost.yaml end-to-end:** full Kurtosis devnet run with the minimized yaml (no `zkboost_params:` block, relying purely on the new defaults). Chain progresses, zkboost produces proofs per block, supernode VCs sign (`Completed proof signed and submitted` entries), non-supernode CLs accept gossiped proofs and verify them (`Updated fork choice for verified proof` entries on cl-3 / cl-4), fork-choice updates on verified proofs across all 4 CLs. Dora, prometheus, grafana, tempo all healthy. - [ ] **8gpu_zkvm.yaml_norun:** not run in this branch (requires 8× NVIDIA GPUs). Change is a cosmetic image rename; no behavioural delta beyond using the correct upstream image. ## Reference Canonical source configs mirrored here: [`eth-act/lighthouse` optional-proofs branch, `scripts/local_testnet/network_params_eip8025_zkboost*.yaml`](https://github.com/eth-act/lighthouse/tree/optional-proofs/scripts/local_testnet). 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

## Summary Bumps the default \`ethereum-genesis-generator\` image from \`6.0.2\` → \`6.0.4\` everywhere it's pinned: - \`src/package_io/constants.star\` — runtime default - \`network_params.yaml\` — example user config - \`README.md\` — documented default ## What's in 6.0.4 - Pins \`eth-beacon-genesis\` to v0.0.2 ([egg ethpandaops#288](ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator#288)). - v0.0.2 brings minimal-preset \`PTC_SIZE: 2 → 16\` (matching consensus-specs alpha 6 [#5177](ethereum/consensus-specs#5177)) and a \`go-eth2-client\` v0.1.0 → v0.1.1 bump. ## Test plan - [ ] Wait for \`ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator:6.0.4\` to be published before merging. - [ ] Spin up a minimal-preset Gloas devnet via this branch and confirm the genesis state encodes \`PTC_SIZE = 16\`.
## Summary Bumps the default `ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator` image from `6.0.4` to `6.0.5` in `src/package_io/constants.star`, `network_params.yaml`, and the README example. 6.0.5 picks up the consensus-specs `v1.7.0-alpha.7` config sync (see ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator#289). ## Test plan - [ ] `kurtosis run --enclave egg-bump .` with default network params boots successfully on the new image

…pandaops#1401) ## Summary - A partial override like `mock_proving_time: { kind: constant }` silently became 0ms because dict.get on the missing `ms` key returned 0, while omitting `mock_proving_time` entirely fell back to the launcher's hardcoded 6000ms — surprising and inconsistent. - Fill in kind-appropriate defaults during input validation so partial overrides behave like the no-override case. Defaults now scale with `slot_duration_ms` (2/3 of slot): `constant.ms`, `random.min_ms`/`max_ms` (default_ms/2 .. default_ms*2), and `linear.ms_per_mgas`. - Updated the launcher's defensive fallback and the auto-injected default zkvm to use the same 2/3-of-slot scaling. ## Test plan - [ ] `kurtosis lint --format .` passes - [ ] `zkvms: [{ kind: mock, proof_type: reth-zisk }]` → mock proving time defaults to 4000ms on 6s slots (2/3 of 6000) - [ ] `zkvms: [{ kind: mock, proof_type: reth-zisk, mock_proving_time: { kind: constant } }]` → resolves to 4000ms (no longer 0ms) - [ ] `zkvms: [{ kind: mock, proof_type: reth-zisk, mock_proving_time: { kind: random } }]` → resolves to 2000–8000ms on 6s slots - [ ] On a 12s slot, defaults scale to 8000ms / 4000–16000ms --------- Co-authored-by: Chetany Bhardwaj <chetanyiot@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
When `otel_tracing` is enabled, the package discovers the engine's `kurtosis otel` collector via the default gateway, fails fast if it isn't running, and injects per-client OTLP trace flags plus `OTEL_*` env vars (carrying enclave name/uuid resource attributes) so client traces land in ClickHouse tenanted by enclave. This supersedes the in-enclave ClickHouse + log-bridge approach in ethpandaops#1393. Depends on the engine-side `kurtosis otel` command: kurtosis-tech/kurtosis#3122. --------- Signed-off-by: Barnabas Busa <barnabas.busa@ethereum.org> Co-authored-by: Barnabas Busa <barnabas.busa@ethereum.org> Co-authored-by: Barnabas Busa <busa.barnabas@gmail.com>
…ection (ethpandaops#1412) ## What Updates the `kurtosis-ethereum` Claude skill to make the OTel/ClickHouse stack the default for log and trace collection, replacing the old `kurtosis loki start` grafloki path. - **Quick Start** now opens with `kurtosis otel start` — runs an OTel collector + single-node ClickHouse on the Docker host for centralized logs (enclave-name stamped) and traces. Notes Docker-only + host ports (ClickHouse `:18123`, OTLP `:14317`/`:14318`). - **`additional_services`** documents the `otel` service that ships EL/CL/VC traces to that engine stack. ## Why Reflects the new flow from: - ethpandaops#1405 — `otel` additional_service ships traces to the engine OTel/ClickHouse stack - kurtosis-tech/kurtosis#3122 — `kurtosis otel start`/`stop` side containers; Vector also exports logs to ClickHouse `kurtosis loki start` still exists in the CLI and keeps working, but is no longer the recommended default. SKILL.md was the only file in the repo referencing loki. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

Merge dora's PR first (or wait for a release), otherwise dora will ignore the unknown key. ## Changes - **`src/mev/buildoor/buildoor_launcher.star`** — `launch_buildoor` now returns `{mev_endpoint, api_url}`. `mev_endpoint` (port 9000, the mev-boost-style URL) keeps feeding `mev_endpoints` as before; `api_url` (port 8080, the general API) is the new endpoint dora needs. - **`main.star`** — accumulates `buildoor_api_urls` alongside `mev_endpoints` and threads them into `launch_dora`. - **`src/dora/dora_launcher.star`** — accepts `buildoor_api_urls` (default `[]` for backward compat) and exposes them as `BuildoorAPIURLs` in the template data. - **`static_files/dora-config/config.yaml.tmpl`** — renders a `buildoorUrls: [...]` block under `frontend:` when `BuildoorAPIURLs` is non-empty. ## Generated config diff Before (mev_type: buildoor): ```yaml frontend: enabled: true ... rainbowkitProjectId: "..." ``` After: ```yaml frontend: enabled: true ... buildoorUrls: - "http://buildoor:8080" buildoorRefreshInterval: 5m rainbowkitProjectId: "..." ``` ## Test plan - [ ] `kurtosis lint --format` clean (verified locally — 108 files unchanged) - [ ] Stand up a devnet with `mev_type: buildoor` + `additional_services: [dora]`, inspect `dora-config.yaml`, confirm `buildoorUrls` is populated. - [ ] Stand up without `mev_type: buildoor`, confirm `buildoorUrls` block is absent (template gated on `.BuildoorAPIURLs`). - [ ] With both PRs merged: dora UI shows builder names + external-link icons on the slot bids page.

…thpandaops#1414) gated on ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator#296 Enables genesis validator shuffling by default and maps the shuffled on-chain indices back to client names. - New `shuffle_genesis_validators` network param (default `true`), passed through to the genesis generator. - The validator-ranges generator now reads `validator_names.yaml` from the genesis artifact **at execution time** and translates the mnemonic-derivation index ranges into on-chain index ranges per participant — splitting where client boundaries don't align with the mapping groups, and passing non-main-mnemonic sources through under their own name. - Backward compatible to an EGG without a mapping file: it falls back to the direct 1:1 index mapping. - Removes the now-unused validator-ranges Go template (ranges are written directly).
replacement for ethpandaops#1421 with a proper fix to skip mev-boost entirely instead of just putting a patch on the prysm flag :)
…1417) ## Summary Adds QUIC transport support for Teku beacon nodes, bringing Teku in line with the QUIC handling already present for Lighthouse, Grandine, and Prysm. NOTE: need to wait for Teku next release or `--Xp2p-quic-enabled` and `--Xp2p-quic-port` won't be available. ## Changes - Define a private QUIC port for Teku (`BEACON_QUIC_PORT_NUM = 9001`, matching Lighthouse/Grandine). - Wire QUIC into the beacon command via `--Xp2p-quic-enabled=true` and `--Xp2p-quic-port`, and register `QUIC_DISCOVERY_PORT_ID` (UDP) in the node's used-port assignments. - Publish the QUIC discovery port on public-port index `[4]` rather than `[3]`. Index `[3]` is reserved for the validator HTTP port, so the original wiring advertised QUIC and the validator REST API on the same external port number. Index `[4]` matches Grandine's layout and removes the collision. ## Notes - QUIC is enabled via Teku's experimental `--Xp2p-*` flags; do **not** also pass `--Xp2p-quic-enabled` in `cl_extra_params`, as the launcher injects it automatically (picocli rejects duplicate flags). - QUIC negotiation can be verified by checking Teku beacon logs and peer multiaddrs for `quic-v1` entries. ## Testing Deployed locally via Kurtosis and confirmed Teku starts with QUIC enabled.
…hpandaops#1423) ## Summary Fixes ethpandaops#1236. When `port_publisher.remote_signer.enabled: true`, the remote signer's **HTTP** port was not being assigned a deterministic public port — only the **metrics** port was. As a result, HTTP got a random host port while metrics correctly respected `public_port_start`. `MAX_PORTS_PER_REMOTE_SIGNER_NODE = 2` already reserves two public ports per signer, but only one slot (`[0]`) was being consumed, leaving the HTTP port unpublished. ## Change In `src/remote_signer/remote_signer_launcher.star`, assign both reserved public ports: ```python public_port_assignments = { REMOTE_SIGNER_HTTP_PORT_ID: public_ports_for_component[0], constants.METRICS_PORT_ID: public_ports_for_component[1], } ``` HTTP now takes the first reserved port (e.g. `35000`) and metrics the second (e.g. `35001`), matching the HTTP-first/metrics-second convention used by the other components. Credit to @imnotanoob for diagnosing the issue and proposing the fix.
## Summary Fixes ethpandaops#1169. `participants_matrix` could not configure a remote signer. A `remote_signer` dimension was already declared in `sanity_check.star`'s `PARTICIPANT_MATRIX_PARAMS`, but `input_parser.star` only iterated `el`/`cl`/`vc` and never merged it into participants — so it was dead config. Putting remote-signer fields under `cl` also failed sanity validation (`use_remote_signer is not an attribute`). ## Changes - **`input_parser.star`**: the matrix builder now also reads the `remote_signer` dimension and merges each item's keys into the participant (same way `vc` is merged), wrapped in a `for ... else [{}]` so it's optional. Defining a non-empty `remote_signer` entry implies `use_remote_signer = true` — no separate flag to set. - **`README.md`**: documented the `remote_signer` matrix dimension with an example, noting that defining an entry enables it automatically and that it requires `use_separate_vc: true` on the matching `cl` item. - **`.github/tests/remote-signer-matrix.yaml`**: example/config exercising the new dimension. ## Usage ```yaml participants_matrix: el: - el_type: geth cl: - cl_type: prysm use_separate_vc: true vc: - vc_type: prysm remote_signer: - remote_signer_type: web3signer remote_signer_image: consensys/web3signer:develop ``` Just defining the `remote_signer` entry enables it. A remote signer requires `use_separate_vc: true` on the matching `cl` item (existing validation in `input_parser.star`). `kurtosis lint` passes.
…ethpandaops#1429) ## What When `mev_type: buildoor` is set, automatically add the "build a payload on every slot" flag to the **first participant's** consensus client. ## Why Buildoor connects directly to the first participant's beacon node (`all_cl_contexts[0]`) and subscribes to its `/eth/v1/events?topics=payload_attributes` SSE stream to know when to start building. Beacon nodes only emit these events for slots they propose unless explicitly told to always prepare a payload — so without this flag buildoor wouldn't reliably trigger block building. Previously this flag had to be added manually via `cl_extra_params`. ## Changes In `enrich_mev_extra_params` (`src/package_io/input_parser.star`), gated on `mev_type == buildoor` and `index == 0`: | CL | Flag added | |---|---| | lodestar | `--emitPayloadAttributes=true` | | prysm | `--prepare-all-payloads` | | lighthouse | `--always-prepare-payload` | | grandine | `--features=AlwaysPrepareExecutionPayload` | `teku`, `nimbus` and `consensoor` have no equivalent flag, so the parser now **fails fast** with a clear message naming the offending client when one of them is the first participant. > Notes: > - The lighthouse flag is `--always-prepare-payload` (singular); it requires `--suggested-fee-recipient`, which the beacon node already sets when an EL is attached (`lighthouse_launcher.star`). > - consensoor support is being added separately (it needs to *emit* the `payload_attributes` SSE event first). ## Testing `kurtosis run --dry-run` confirmed: - lodestar + buildoor → parses and runs end-to-end (exit 0). - grandine + buildoor → parses and runs end-to-end (exit 0). - teku + buildoor → fails with the intended error message.
Follow-up to ethpandaops#1429. teku can emit `payload_attributes` on every slot via `-Xfork-choice-updated-always-send-payload-attributes`, so it can serve as buildoor's first participant. Wire up the flag and drop teku from the fail list. ## Changes `enrich_mev_extra_params` (`src/package_io/input_parser.star`), gated on `mev_type == buildoor` and `index == 0`: | CL | Flag added | |---|---| | lodestar | `--emitPayloadAttributes=true` | | prysm | `--prepare-all-payloads` | | lighthouse | `--always-prepare-payload` | | grandine | `--features=AlwaysPrepareExecutionPayload` | | consensoor | `--emit-payload-attributes` | | **teku** | **`-Xfork-choice-updated-always-send-payload-attributes=true`** | | nimbus | fail fast (no equivalent flag) | Only **nimbus** is left unsupported. ## Testing `kurtosis run --dry-run`: - teku + buildoor → parses and runs end-to-end (exit 0). - nimbus + buildoor → fails with the intended error message.
ethpandaops#1433) ## Problem ethpandaops#1430 wired teku as a buildoor first participant using `-Xfork-choice-updated-always-send-payload-attributes=true` (**single** dash). Teku rejects that as an unknown option, so teku + `mev_type: buildoor` fails to boot: ``` Unknown option: '-Xfork-choice-updated-always-send-payload-attributes=true' ``` `main` is currently broken for this combination. ## Root cause Teku's experimental (`-X`) options use the **`--X`** prefix (double dash), not `-X`. The correct option, confirmed via `teku --Xhelp` and `Eth2NetworkOptions.java`: ``` --Xfork-choice-updated-always-send-payload-attributes[=<BOOLEAN>] Calculate and send payload attributes on every forkChoiceUpdated regardless if a connected validator is due to be a block proposer ``` `[=<BOOLEAN>]` → `=true` is valid (bare also defaults to true). ## Fix One character: `-X` → `--X`. ```diff - "-Xfork-choice-updated-always-send-payload-attributes=true" + "--Xfork-choice-updated-always-send-payload-attributes=true" ``` ## Verification - The double-dash form parses (no "Unknown option") on `ethpandaops/teku:glamsterdam-devnet-6` for bare, `=true`, and `=false`. - `kurtosis run --dry-run` with teku + buildoor parses and runs end-to-end. (Earlier confusion came from testing with `--version`, which short-circuits before teku validates options and masks unknown-option errors.)

…thpandaops#1432) ## What Adds support for **multiple dedicated buildoor builder instances**, configured independently of the participants via `buildoor_params.instances` and enabled as an `additional_services` entry. ```yaml participants: - el_type: geth cl_type: lighthouse - el_type: reth cl_type: prysm additional_services: - buildoor # enables buildoor (like dora/spamoor/etc) buildoor_params: builder_api: true epbs_builder: true lifecycle: true instances: - participant: 1 # 1-based participant index count: 1 - participant: 2 count: 2 # two competing builders wired to participant 2 ``` This spins up `buildoor-lighthouse-geth-1`, `buildoor-reth-prysm-2-1`, and `buildoor-reth-prysm-2-2`, each wired to the named participant's own CL/EL. ## Why A block builder is independent of the network — it reads one CL's `payload_attributes` stream and (under ePBS) gossips bids to everyone. The previous model only allowed a single shared builder via `mev_type: buildoor` against participant 0. This lets you run many builders, target specific participants, and run more than one per participant. ## How - **buildoor as an additional_service** — buildoor only spins up when `buildoor` is in `additional_services` (consistent with other optional services), instead of being implied by config. With `buildoor` enabled and no `instances` set, it defaults to a single builder on the first participant. Mutually exclusive with the (deprecated) `mev_type: buildoor`. - **`buildoor_params.instances`** — `[{participant, count}]` declares which participants get builders and how many each. Validated for index range, duplicates, and count. - **Cleaner key derivation** — buildoor derives its builder BLS key itself via `--builder-mnemonic` + `--builder-key-index`, dropping the per-instance `ethdo` `run_sh` containers. - **Lifecycle / post-genesis onboarding (default on)** — each builder onboards itself after genesis via its lifecycle deposit (`--lifecycle`), so builders no longer need genesis registration and **gloas does not have to be at genesis** (works at any gloas epoch). Builder keys are derived at indices after any genesis-registered builders to avoid collisions. - **Block attribution** — each instance passes `--extra-data=<service-name>` so built blocks can be traced back to the builder that produced them. - **Service naming** — `buildoor-<cl>-<el>-<participant>` (with a `-<n>` suffix when count > 1), matching the cl/el naming convention. - **Deprecation** — `mev_type: buildoor` (single shared builder) is marked deprecated and will be dropped after the gloas fork; a runtime warning is printed. - **Docs + validation + tests** — README updated; sanity checks added for the new params; nightly tests added (`buildoor-instances.yaml`, `buildoor-instances-matrix.yaml`). ## Notes / limitations - The `--extra-data` flag and lifecycle/early-deposit onboarding require a buildoor build that supports them (in `glamsterdam-devnet-6`; not yet in `:main`). Bump the default `buildoor_params.image` once buildoor PRs ethpandaops#115/ethpandaops#110 land on main. - The CL has a single external-builder endpoint, so it is wired to its participant's first buildoor instance; additional instances still run (e.g. competing ePBS builders) but are not the CL's Builder-API endpoint. - Each instance uses a distinct prefunded account so concurrent buildoors don't collide on tx nonces; with a custom single-account `prefunded_accounts` they would share a wallet. ## Testing Validated with `kurtosis run . --dry-run`: - `additional_services: [buildoor]` + instances → all instances spin up. - `additional_services: [buildoor]`, no instances → one builder on participant 1. - instances set without `buildoor` in additional_services → clear failure. - gloas at a non-genesis epoch → builders spin up (lifecycle onboarding). - combining with `mev_type: buildoor` → conflict failure; deprecated `mev_type: buildoor` alone still works. - `black`-formatted. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>

…cator (ethpandaops#1425) ## Summary Closes ethpandaops#784. `grafana_params.additional_dashboards` is passed to `plan.upload_files(...)` in `grafana_launcher.star`. Per Kurtosis, `upload_files` accepts a GitHub locator, a path within the **current package**, or an absolute http(s) URL. Because that call executes inside `ethpandaops/ethereum-package`, a relative/local path supplied by a **consumer** package resolves against ethereum-package and fails: ``` '/src/grafana/tools/grafana/dashboards' doesn't exist in the package 'ethpandaops/ethereum-package' ``` This is inherent to Kurtosis's locator model — a relative consumer path cannot resolve against the consumer when the `upload_files` call lives in the dependency. The supported approach is an absolute `github.com/<org>/<repo>/path` locator (or an http(s) URL) pointing at your own repo. ## Change Documentation only — expands the `additional_dashboards` comment in `README.md` to spell out that entries must be a GitHub locator or absolute http(s) URL, and that local/relative paths won't work when inheriting the package. ```yaml grafana_params: additional_dashboards: - github.com/<your-org>/<your-repo>/path/to/dashboards ```
…thpandaops#1443) Updates the default `payload_due_bps` from 7500 to 5000 (75% → 50% of slot duration), matching the payload deadline change in ethereum/consensus-specs#5414. Changed in both mainnet and minimal preset defaults in `input_parser.star`, plus `network_params.yaml` and the README docs. Companion change in ethereum-genesis-generator: ethpandaops/ethereum-genesis-generator@64aee84 (glamsterdam-devnet-7 branch). --------- Signed-off-by: Barnabas Busa <barnabas.busa@ethereum.org>
