🚀 Major New Features

Cloud Gaming Shortcut Creator: Generate launch-ready, borderless Steam shortcuts for web-based services (like Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce Now). Automatically tags them with (Cloud) to neatly separate them from local installs.

Native Offline Artwork Injection: When creating Cloud Shortcuts, the tool now generates and applies the complete visual suite (Vertical Grids, Horizontal Headers, Heroes, Logos, and Icons) directly to your local Steam library offline—completely bypassing SteamGridDB API upload limits and matching issues for these shortcuts.

🧠 Engine & Logic Improvements

Official Branding First: Intelligently prioritizes official publisher artwork over community memes or highly stylized custom art.

Accurate AppID Generation: Fixed a calculation bug with shortcut IDs, ensuring Steam instantly recognizes and natively applies the injected art for all newly created Cloud shortcuts.

Included Default Profiles: Pre-configured overlay profiles are now bundled directly with the release so you can start customizing immediately out of the box.

✨ New Features & Failsafes

Zero-Asset Override (Force Upload): Added a manual override dialog to combat SteamGridDB's "Zero-Asset Invisibility" and Autocomplete Cache lag. If the API falsely reports a game doesn't exist, you are no longer locked out from uploading.

Direct URL/ID Routing: When an automated search fails, a new text box appears allowing you to paste the exact SteamGridDB Game URL (or just the numeric ID). Clicking "Force Upload" completely bypasses the broken API search and routes your artwork straight to the correct database page.

Custom Art Routing: Uploading fully custom imported art now intelligently prompts you for a target SteamGridDB URL/ID so it knows exactly where to send your files.

v1.34
✨ Quality of Life & UX Enhancements

Instant API Key Recognition (Auto-Refresh): The app now actively listens for API key updates. The moment you save a new key, it instantly re-fetches the currently loaded game in the background, unlocking the cycle buttons immediately without requiring an app restart or a manual re-search.

Smart UI Lock Indicators: The "Cycle Art" buttons now dynamically read "🔑 API Req." when a key is missing, clearly communicating exactly why community features are disabled.

Dynamic Settings Warning: The sidebar "API Settings" button now acts as a live status indicator. It turns bold red with a warning icon ("⚠️ Missing API Key") if you launch the app without a key, and instantly reverts to its normal state once a valid key is provided.

✨ New Features & UI Enhancements

Universal Art Cycling: The "Cycle Art" buttons are now enabled for all games, rather than just those missing official artwork. The app loads the official Steam art by default but allows you to seamlessly cycle through alternative community uploads.

True "Newest First" Sorting: Completely overhauled the sorting logic. Instead of relying on SteamGridDB's default "Popularity/Score" ranking, the app now sorts all community artwork strictly by database ID in descending order, guaranteeing the absolute most recent seasonal uploads appear first.

Smart Image Cropping: Replaced standard image resizing with PIL's ImageOps.fit. This ensures that community grids with slightly irregular resolutions are perfectly "cropped to fill" the preview windows without any squishing or distortion.

Dynamic Status Tracking: The UI status label now updates in real-time during heavy API fetching, displaying the current page being scraped and exactly which artwork in the queue you are currently viewing.

Quick Reset Buttons: Added dedicated "Reset" buttons next to both cycle controls, allowing you to instantly revert to the original official artwork and zero out the offset sliders.

🛠 Technical & Backend Fixes

Deep API Pagination: Bypassed the API's forced popularity bottleneck and 20-item page limits. The background scraper now aggressively paginates through up to 500 pages of the database to ensure brand-new, 0-upvote artwork isn't missed.

Strict Mathematical Aspect Ratios: Removed reliance on the API's buggy dimension filters. The script now downloads the raw data and uses precise Python-side floating-point math to isolate grids.

Vertical: Strictly accepts ~2:3 ratios (0.65 to 0.72).

Horizontal: Strictly accepts ~92:43 ratios (2.10 to 2.18).

This completely rejects square grids (1024x1024) and ultra-wide banners that were previously causing UI distortion.

Post-Pagination Tripwire Bypass: Forced the API to include all tags (including NSFW, Humor, Epilepsy, and Animated) during the initial fetch. This prevents the server from silently dropping items and triggering a false "end of database" exit before the scraper reaches the newest files. Unwanted items are then safely filtered out locally.

Roman Numeral Translation: Upgraded the fallback search logic with a Regex translator. It automatically converts standalone Roman numerals (e.g., "II", "IV") into Arabic numbers ("2", "4"), fixing search failures for games with inconsistent database naming conventions (e.g., successfully matching Helldivers II with HELLDIVERS™ 2).

Release v1.31: The Universal Grid & Steam Deck Optimization Update
This massive update transforms the tool into a native-feeling Steam Deck application, completely overhauls the search engine to ruthlessly block microtransactions, and introduces a unified search engine that finally brings support for Epic Games, EA, and other non-Steam titles.

🚀 Epic Games, EA & Universal Support
The Unified Search Engine: The tool now simultaneously searches Steam and SteamGridDB's internal databases. If a game is an Epic Exclusive (like Fall Guys or Alan Wake 2), the tool will seamlessly bypass Steam, fetch the data directly from SGDB, and tag it as (SGDB) in your search results.

🎮 Steam Deck UI & Quality of Life
Native Steam Deck Resolution: The default window size is now optimized to 1150x720, fitting perfectly within the Deck's native display while leaving room for the SteamOS taskbar.

Fully Scrollable Interface: The main workspace is now a scrollable frame. Crucial action buttons (like batch uploads) will no longer be pushed off-screen if you open the on-screen keyboard or increase your system's UI scaling.

Responsive Thumbnails: Image preview dimensions dynamically scale down to sit cleanly side-by-side on smaller monitors without breaking the layout.

Log Window "Escape Hatch": Added a dedicated, pinned "Close" button to the Upload Log window to prevent users from getting trapped if SteamOS/Gamescope forces the pop-up into an un-minimizable fullscreen mode.

🔍 Bulletproof Search & Filtering
Strict "Base Game" Enforcement: The tool now taps into an internal Steam API parameter (category1=998) to force Steam to only return actual base games, ignoring the vast majority of DLCs before the data even reaches the app.

Aggressive Microtransaction Regex: Drastically expanded the failsafe word filter. The tool now actively detects and destroys miscategorized items containing words like costume, outfit, skin, hair, reward, boost, credits, expansion, pass, and currency.

"Definitive Edition" Safe-Listing: Refined the word filters so legitimate base games with subtitles like "Definitive Edition", "Deluxe", or "Bundle" pass through safely, while true microtransactions are still blocked.

Rate-Limit Evasion: Reduced the bulk search payload down to the top 15 items. This prevents Steam's backend API from panicking and rate-limiting the tool.

🧠 Smart Fallbacks & Missing Game Detection
Unlinked AppID Fallback: If SteamGridDB hasn't linked a new game's Steam AppID to their database yet, the tool automatically pivots to an intelligent text-based search.

Trademark & Copyright Scrubbing: The tool now actively scrubs ®, ™, and © symbols from Steam titles before searching SteamGridDB to ensure clean, accurate matches.

Exact Name Verification: To prevent uploading artwork to the wrong title, the text fallback strictly verifies that your search query exists inside the returned game's name (ignoring spaces and punctuation) before proceeding.

Interactive "Missing Game" Dialog: If a game genuinely does not exist on SteamGridDB yet, the tool catches the empty data and spawns a custom alert with a direct, clickable button that launches your web browser straight to the SGDB Game Request page.

⚙️ Network Stability & Memory
Persistent Sessions & Bot Disguise: The network layer now uses a persistent connection session with a standard browser User-Agent. This drastically speeds up searches and stops Steam from silently "tarpitting" your IP address.

Multi-Search Memory Flush: Fixed a visual bug where searching for a second game wouldn't update the UI. The tool now properly flushes old artwork from memory before fetching new images.

Anti-Freeze Timeouts: Added strict 5-to-15 second timeouts to all API requests and image uploads. The app will instantly recover and fail gracefully instead of freezing indefinitely if a server drops the connection.

Responsive UI States: The interface forcefully updates immediately upon clicking search or fetch, ensuring you never sit there wondering if your click actually registered.

🔍 Bulletproof Search & Filtering
Strict "Base Game" Enforcement: The tool now taps into an undocumented Steam API parameter (category1=998) to force Steam to only return actual base games, ignoring the vast majority of DLCs before the data even reaches the app.

Aggressive Microtransaction Regex: Drastically expanded the failsafe word filter. The tool now actively detects and destroys miscategorized items containing words like costume, outfit, skin, hair, reward, boost, bundle, credits, expansion, pass, and currency.

Rate-Limit Evasion: Reduced the bulk search payload from 25 items down to the top 12. This prevents Steam's appdetails API from panicking and rate-limiting the tool.

🧠 Smart Fallbacks & Missing Game Detection
Unlinked AppID Fallback: If SteamGridDB hasn't linked a new game's Steam AppID to their database yet, the tool automatically pivots to an intelligent text-based search.

Exact Name Verification: To prevent uploading artwork to the wrong title (e.g., uploading WWE 2K26 art to WWE Survivor Series), the text fallback strictly verifies that your search query exists inside the returned game's name before proceeding.

🎮 Steam Deck & UI Enhancements
Native Steam Deck Resolution: Reduced the default window size to 1150x720. The tool now fits perfectly within the Deck's native 1280x800 display, leaving ample room for the SteamOS taskbar and window borders.

Fully Scrollable Interface: Converted the main workspace into a scrollable frame. Crucial action buttons (like the batch upload controls) will no longer be pushed off the bottom of the screen, even if you open the on-screen keyboard or increase your system's UI scaling.

Responsive Thumbnails: Adjusted the image preview dimensions. Vertical and horizontal art thumbnails now scale down cleanly to sit side-by-side on smaller monitors without breaking the layout.

Log Window "Escape Hatch": Added a dedicated, pinned "Close" button to the Upload Log window. This prevents users from getting trapped if SteamOS/Gamescope forces the pop-up window into an un-minimizable fullscreen mode.

🔍 Search Engine & Filtering Upgrades
Rate-Limit Evasion: Reduced the bulk search load from 25 items down to the top 12. This prevents Steam's appdetails API from panicking and rate-limiting the tool, ensuring the strict "Is this a base game?" check succeeds much more frequently.

Aggressive Microtransaction Filters: Drastically expanded the failsafe Regex blacklist. If Steam refuses to confirm an item's type, the tool will now aggressively detect and destroy items containing words like costume, outfit, skin, reward, unlocked, bundle, credits, expansion, pass, and season. (No more miscategorized character outfits masquerading as base games).

⚙️ Network Stability & Bug Fixes
Multi-Search Memory Fix: Fixed a bug where searching for a second game wouldn't visually update the artwork on the screen. The tool now properly flushes old images from memory before fetching new ones.

Anti-Freeze Timeouts: Added strict 5-to-15 second timeouts to all API requests and image downloads. If Steam tries to "tarpit" or silently drop your connection, the app will instantly recover and fail gracefully instead of freezing the interface indefinitely.

Responsive UI States: The app now forcefully updates the UI state immediately when you click search or fetch, ensuring you never sit there wondering if your click actually registered.

✨ What's New
Bulletproof Official Art Fetching: We completely bypassed Steam's restrictive public API. The tool now taps directly into Steam's undocumented internal Store API (IStoreBrowseService), allowing it to successfully extract secure CDN hashes and retrieve official portrait artwork (library_capsule_2x.jpg) even when Steam tries to hide it.

Smart Search Filtering: Tired of Demos and Deluxe DLCs cluttering your search results? The tool now features a strict, Regex-powered word boundary filter. It automatically identifies and removes unreleased items, DLCs, Packs, Editions, and Demos from your search queries, even when Steam's API rate-limits our requests.

DNS Crash Prevention: Added strict Content-Type validation to all image requests. This prevents the tool from silently crashing if an ISP intercepts a failed DNS lookup and tries to feed it an HTML error page or a Google redirect.

🐛 Bug Fixes & Improvements
Fixed an issue where the tool would try to use a header image's CDN hash to unlock portrait artwork (Steam uses unique hashes for every image type).

Removed reliance on the shared.steamstatic.com domain, forcing all requests through the much more reliable shared.akamai.steamstatic.com CDN to prevent failed DNS lookups.

Fixed an edge-case where Steam API rate-limiting would cause the search window to display inaccurate item types.

v1.5 Changelog
Fixed Custom Art Uploads: Corrected a logic error where importing custom artwork would forcefully overwrite the active Game ID with "CUSTOM", even if a game had already been successfully searched. The tool now preserves the active Game ID, allowing you to upload custom artwork to the correct SteamGridDB game page.
