Hi there!
First of all, thank you for the amazing work on the re-key project. It's incredibly well-thought-out, and I absolutely love using it!
I am writing to propose adding firmware support for a new piece of hardware that I believe could be the ultimate physical vessel for this project: the Waveshare RP2350-Touch-LCD-3.5.
(Hardware link: https://www.waveshare.com/rp2350-touch-lcd-3.5.htm)
While there are many RP2040/RP2350 boards out there, this specific board stands out for two game-changing reasons that make it perfect for re-key:
-
It comes with an Official Enclosure (A huge deal for portability)
As we all know, carrying a bare PCB around in a pocket or bag is far from ideal for a security/utility device. The biggest pain point for DIY hardware projects is usually finding a good case. This Waveshare board comes with a custom-fit, sleek official case. Supporting this board means re-key instantly transforms from a "desk experiment" into a highly portable, consumer-grade device that users can safely carry on the go.
-
The 3.5-inch Screen Offers a Flawless Touch Experience
Smaller 2.4" or 2.8" screens are okay, but they often lead to "fat-fingering" or frustrating touch inaccuracies. The 3.5-inch display is the sweet spot. It provides enough screen real estate to make the UI shine and makes typing/touch interactions incredibly smooth and intuitive.
Proposed shape
Combining the new RP2350 chip, the comfortable 3.5" touch area, and the ready-to-use protective case, this hardware feels like it was tailor-made for a project like yours.
I know adapting firmware takes time and effort, but I truly believe this specific board would make re-key accessible and practical for a much wider audience.
Thanks again for your time and for maintaining such a fantastic project!
