Impact
Staff invite acceptance allowed the user to specify any email address when creating their account. This could allow a leaked invite token to be accepted with an attacker-controlled email. The legitimate invite recipient could also use an email provider other than the one intended by the site administrator.
Vulnerable versions
This vulnerability is present in Ghost from v0.5.0 up to v6.62.0
Patches
v6.62.0 contains a fix for this issue.
How to update
For self-hosters using Docker, find Docker's official Ghost image here. Updating a Docker-based Ghost instance is documented here.
If your Ghost is a Ghost-CLI install see our documentation on updating it to the latest version here.
